Consistency Isn't a Personality Trait. It's a Skill.

We tend to think consistency is something people are just born with (ie you either have it, or you don't.)

It's not true. Consistency is a skill, the same as a deadlift or a new language. Nobody's actually born good at it. It's built through repetition.. showing up when you don't feel like it, and coming back after you miss.

That's the good news: if it's a skill, it's learnable. Your past inconsistency isn't a verdict on who you are, it just means the skill hasn't been trained yet.

How the skill gets built:

  • Start smaller than feels necessary. Two sessions a week you'll actually do beats 4 you're aiming for and missing.

  • Expect reschedules to happen. Emergency’s happen and a different session one week doesn't undo the skill, it's part of how it gets built because you still find a way to adapt.

  • Focus on returning, not on streaks. The skill isn't never missing but it is about coming back.

  • Let it compound quietly. You won't notice it week to week, the same way 12 quiet weeks of this exact practice turned into your last Testing Week results.

You don't need to have been ‘born‘ consistent. You just need to protect it in your schedule and adapt where necessary.
